Toasted Sesame Hummus – Suma Bloggers Network

toasted-sesame-seed-hummusA couple of weeks ago I posted a picture on Twitter asking if serving condiments in jam jars is hipster or just plain clever. Thankfully The Guardian has now confirmed the end of hipsters so everyone can all go swivel and I’ll continue to live my life out of reclaimed jam jars. I ride a bike to work, go sock-less on a regular basis and have been known to enjoy an freshly roasted whole bean organic free trade flat white served in a local Icelandic coffee shop. Sadly I can’t seem to make any progress in my beard growing. If that sounds like you as well I wouldn’t sweat it, we can now eat hummus from jars in peace. Here’s my toast to enjoying stuff and not give a toss what box that puts you in. Toasted Sesame Hummus packed with toasted sesame flavours thanks to toasted sesame oil and dark tahini paste.

For my first post I was planning to nock out a bourbon filled blondie recipe. However I’ve spent the past week boozing my body into submission in the name of work so decided to blog about the one healthy thing I’ve consumed. Have no fear though I’ve got some photos of that recipe nocking around somewhere so hopefully they’ll see LCD light soon.

Toasted Sesame Hummus
Prep time:
Total time:
  • 400g tin of chickpeas, drained
  • juice 1 lime
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1½ tablespoons toasted sesame seed oil
  • 1½ tablespoons dark tahini paste
  1. Whizz everything together in a blender adding a water a tablespoon at a time if you would like a looser hummus.
  2. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. The hummus may be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to five days.
